A replica of the watch featured in the Metro 2033 video game, created using donor watch and electronics
Inspired by Metro 2033 Last Light, this survivor watch was one of my earliest post-apocalyptic props and one of the first objects I built with the intention of being worn in the field rather than displayed. The goal was not to create a perfect replica, but a believable artefact that looked correct at a glance and felt like something a character would actually rely on.
Built around a Fossil Q Explorist smartwatch, the project focused on transforming a modern device into a rugged analogue instrument that matched the aesthetic of the Metro universe. A custom 3D-printed housing, clear tinted resin components, and a deliberately industrial finish helped sell the illusion, while the analogue display avoided the overly futuristic look that would have broken immersion. At the time, this was also one of my first experiments with resin printing and transparent materials, adding an extra layer of learning to an otherwise straightforward build.
The watch was worn as part of my Doctor character at an early StAlkErS event, where it functioned as both costume detail and in-world prop. Player reactions confirmed it achieved what it set out to do: feel authentic, practical, and quietly cool without drawing attention to itself.
While a future CNC aluminium, Nixie-style variant is planned, the analogue version remains a finished and fondly remembered early step into wearable world-building.

Replica of the injector device from the Metro 2033 game (Exodus DLC), built using 3D printed parts and electronics.
