Replica X26 Taser (non functional prop) for airsoft, TV, film and training use
The X26 Taser project started as a simple problem of in-game interaction rather than electronics or simulation. In airsoft, players already use a recognised “knife kill” mechanic, where a rubber melee weapon can be used for close-range eliminations. This project extended that existing rule set by replacing the knife with a physically accurate replica X26 Taser.
The goal was to create a non-functional prop that could be used as a new melee device within a police SWAT themed loadout. Instead of calling “knife kill”, the player could use the replica and call “Taser, Taser, Taser” to achieve the same in-game effect. No sensors, electronics, or gameplay changes were required, only a believable physical object and an agreed interaction.
A one-to-one scale 3D model of the X26 was sourced and heavily reworked to allow multi-colour printing. The final prop was printed in yellow and black ABS and designed to fit genuine UK police surplus Blackhawk Taser holsters, which were sourced separately.
The result is a visually accurate, holster-compatible replica that looks authentic at a glance and functions as a physical rule token within airsoft. The project sits somewhere between prop making and game design, focusing on realism, usability, and social interaction rather than technical simulation.
