The creation of a 3D printed replica of the pink mask from the movie "6 Underground".
This project began as a simple piece of fan-driven curiosity and quietly became one of the most important learning moments in my early maker journey. Inspired by the iconic pink mask from the action film 6 Underground, I set out to recreate it as a physical prop for my niece, who loved the film and its distinctive visual style. At the time, I had only just bought my first 3D printer, a Creality Ender-3, and assumed that making a movie prop would be little more than downloading a model and pressing print.
The reality was very different. The mask was printed in multiple sections using pink PLA, glued together, filled, sanded, and eventually spray painted. Along the way I ran into every classic beginner problem: visible layer lines, weak post-processing techniques, poor finishing choices, and a complete lack of understanding of materials and workflow. Even something as basic as indoor spray painting turned into a memorable disaster, coating my entire flat in a fine layer of pink dust.
Despite all of this, the final result achieved its real goal. The mask looked convincing, photographed well, and became the centrepiece of a small cosplay shoot recreating a scene from the film. More importantly, it marked the first time I unknowingly completed the full creative loop from digital file to finished prop for someone else. This project remains a frozen snapshot of that transition point, from owning a printer to becoming a prop maker.
